·      It has been 1 hundred years since Anzac day started
·      Over 16000 people died during World War 1.
·      Many people lied about their age to enter the army as they thought it was going to be an adventure.
·      Simpson and his Donkey
·      The red poppies grew from the soldier’s blood.
·      All Australians including Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders.
·      What were we fighting for?
·      Who were we protecting?
·      What’s the real story?
·      We use many forms of respect and commemoration eg.

Notes on the documentary:
When we reflect on WW1 what are we remembering? The facts, or just one small part of the Anzac story, a story steeped in legend? Ask yourself this question when Anzac Day comes about – Lest we forget what?

-       Australians all believe that It's all about the Anzac spirit.
-       Lest we Forget what?
-       The men they faced were an experienced fighting force.
-       All Australians are natural soldiers and don't need any preparation is a myth.
-       Did the ANZACs really land on the wrong beach?
-       They don't show the full story.
-       Charles Bean was an official war correspondent and an important person.
-       Were they victims of the British.
-       By making the ANZAC cookies tasty then people think of history as tasty.
-       Only two dead bodies were brought back from the war.
-       Major General Bridges was the commanding officer in Gallipoli.
-       200000 Turks died defending Turkey.
-       Many soldiers were from prisons and people with convictions.
-       There was no Suvla tea party.
-       Beating Turkey would not have won the war, beating Germany wins the war.
-       Bean needed someone to blame and wasn’t going to be the ANZACs.

-       We lost more men on the Western Front in a couple of days than we did in 8 months of the Gallipoli campaign.
